Security Doors and Safeguards Such as Sliding Door Locks

Security doors are an essential feature of many homes and offices across the country. They are strong and able to stop any intruder on their tracks. Most doors are made from aluminium or stainless steel, depending on personal preference, and each one has its own advantages.
Stainless Steel
Steel home security doors are made from 316 type stainless steel which is marine grade, meaning that they can stave off whatever the weather can throw at them. Good brands of stainless steel doors use the INVISI-GARD system in order to reduce reflections from the metal materials, making it easier to see through, particularly at a distance. Even with the sharpest knife, an assailant will not be able to cut through the mesh.
Aluminium Doors
These doors are made specifically for environments like the Gold Coast. They are treated with a chromate conversion process and powder coated in the colour of your preference, allowing them to resist rust and corrosion. They are designed to look like wrought iron and are meant to resist attacks stronger than doors with vertical bars.
Options
It is possible to choose between many different options when it comes to buying security doors. First of all, you need to decide which material to go for, but you should also consider whether you only need a single or a triple lock security door. Do you want to have a hinged door that works like an ordinary push or pull door, or one that slides? Sliding doors are popular for patios and are installed by using runners in order to protect the rolling mechanism. Heavier duty tracks are available for those that want something even safer. You can also opt to have a pet door installed or even add door closers so that the doors will shut automatically once you have gone through them.

How Aluminium Security Doors Can Keep You Safe

If you are looking to increase the security of your home or an office, even if you were to keep the doors or windows open to allow fresh air to flow through the building, then a security door may help. These doors and windows allow for greater security and privacy without needing to keep everything shut at all times. While many of the doors are made from aluminium, it is also possible to get them in stainless steel.

Aluminium doors, such as the ALU-GARD models, have a mesh covering the doorway, much like any other screen. The aluminium is black powder coated and the door is made to stand certain tests, such as the knife shear, jemmy and dynamic impact test, to ensure that it fends off even the most determined assailant. The doors have heavy duty corners and include stainless steel rivets.
Stainless steel security doors use an INVISI-GARD mesh that is long lasting and made of strong 316 type stainless steel. It is sprayed with a polyester powder that cuts down on light reflection, making it easier to view outside of the door than other metallic meshes.
When it comes to buying aluminium or stainless steel security doors, the build and strength are two of the most important factors. Ensure that they are built to the Australian AS50339 specification standards. If you opt for the stainless steel version of the door, confirm that it is made from 316 type stainless steel and not 304 type. 316 stainless steel is marine grade and can resist the weather's corrosive effects for many years while 304 type stainless steel will start to show markings within only a couple of years. Check that the stainless steel doors use INVISI-GARD technology as the alternative; hybrid epoxy powder coating is not suitable for outdoor use. Giving the knife test to the security door will give you extra peace of mind when you make the purchase.
